Work Permit Services Indonesia
RPTKA, DKPTKA, work e-Visa and KITAS filings for Indonesian employers
Kemnaker approves the employer's RPTKA, the work authorisation, and immigration issues the work e-Visa and KITAS after arrival. Our Jakarta mobility team prepares the dossier, coordinates the DKPTKA levy and tracks every filing to issue. You stay the sponsor.

How it works
1
Eligibility check
We review the role against the positions open to foreign nationals (HR roles are closed), the candidate's qualifications, the employing entity's standing, and whether a temporary RPTKA of up to six months fits. If eligibility is marginal, we say so before filing.
2
Application preparation
RPTKA application on TKA Online with role justification, the named Indonesian counterpart and knowledge-transfer plan, organisation chart, employment draft, and legalised, translated qualifications. Passport validity checked against the KITAS term.
3
Submission & monitoring
RPTKA filed with Kemnaker, DKPTKA paid on approval, work e-Visa applied for through the immigration portal, and the KITAS biometric appointment booked after arrival. Queries answered within the requested window.
4
Renewals, changes, & appeals
KITAS and RPTKA renewals started well before expiry, dependant KITAS for spouse and children, changes of position or employer, annual manpower reporting support, and exit permit and cancellation on departure.
Work permit and visa filings by our Jakarta mobility team
PT People Profilers Services is the group's locally-incorporated Indonesian entity, with an in-house mobility team acting as your appointed processing coordinator in Indonesia. We handle RPTKA approvals, DKPTKA, work e-Visas, KITAS issuance and extensions, and dependant permits for employers across Indonesia, backed by a group that has moved professionals around Southeast Asia since 2002. The client remains the legal employer and sponsor of every foreign hire. Our practice rests on three things: accurate first-time submissions, honest eligibility advice before a filing (we will say no when a profile does not meet the criteria), and per-application pricing with no retainer, so you pay only for the filings you need. Processing times and approval decisions sit with Kemnaker and immigration. We do everything within our control to give each application its best chance. If you have a renewal approaching, read what the Ministry now expects at RPTKA renewal.
What is included in our work permit and visa service
Three layers: the permit and visa filings themselves, the compliance and advisory work that should accompany every application, and a pricing structure built for transparency and budget control. No minimum commitment, no retainer, no bundled HR services on the per-application track.

- ✓Quoted in writing before any submission
Fees are confirmed per filing before submission. The client remains the legal employer and sponsor of the permit holder; People Profilers prepares and coordinates the filings on the client's behalf. If you want work permit administration bundled with payroll and the wider HR function under one retainer, see HR Shared Services.
When standalone work permit services make sense
Standalone filings suit employers who run their own HR function in-house but want an experienced coordinator for the immigration work. Three patterns we see most often.
A foreign HQ placing its first expatriates in Indonesia
Often before there is any local HR presence. We handle the RPTKA and immigration filings, coordinate the family's dependant KITAS, and advise on the sequence that must be in place first: an Indonesia-incorporated employer with its licences in order, a named Indonesian counterpart, and legalised documents.
An established employer with regular permit volume
Steady cycles of RPTKA extensions, KITAS renewals and new hires, where a consistent partner beats rotating between agents or managing TKA Online and the e-Visa portal in-house. Per-application pricing means you pay for what you file.
Marginal or complex cases
Borderline qualification matches, roles close to the closed HR category, assignments that might fit a temporary RPTKA or a business visit instead, and candidates with non-standard histories. We assess the realistic path before anything is submitted.
If you want work permit filings bundled with full HR function outsourcing under one retainer, see HR Shared Services. If you are planning a restructuring that affects foreign-hire decisions, our HR Consultation service helps with the upstream workforce planning.
Where we fit
We advise on eligibility, prepare and file the application, and track it to issue. The employing company remains the sponsor throughout: work permits are issued for foreign nationals employed directly by an Indonesia-incorporated entity.

Frequently asked questions
What does a foreign professional need to work in Indonesia?
Three things in sequence. An approved RPTKA from the Ministry of Manpower, which is the work authorisation (the separate IMTA no longer exists), with the DKPTKA levy paid. A work e-Visa issued by the Directorate General of Immigration before travel. And a KITAS stay permit, issued after arrival and biometric enrolment, valid for six months, one year or two years and renewable.
Work may not start until the authorisation is in place. A business visit visa does not permit productive work.
What must an employer have in place to sponsor a work permit?
An Indonesia-incorporated employer (a PT PMA, a PT, or a registered representative office) with its NIB and business licences in order, because the RPTKA attaches to the company that employs the foreign national directly. Indonesian law does not allow an agency or an employer of record to stand in for the sponsor.
The employer must also name an Indonesian counterpart to work alongside the foreign hire, commit to knowledge transfer and Indonesian language facilitation, and report annually.
We check all of this before filing, and tell you plainly if the sponsorship base is not there yet, with options to strengthen it before submission rather than after a rejection.
Which positions can a foreign national hold?
Indonesia closes human resources and personnel management positions to foreign nationals entirely, from HR Director to recruitment and industrial relations roles. Other positions are open where the role and the candidate's qualifications match the requirements Kemnaker applies, which vary by sector.
Directors and commissioners with qualifying shareholdings, and certain short-term categories, follow separate routes. We confirm the position's status at the eligibility check.
Do short-term assignments need a work permit?
Yes, if the person will do productive work. Indonesia provides a temporary RPTKA for assignments of up to six months, which cannot be extended, covering commissioning, installation, audits, training and similar work. A business visit visa covers meetings and negotiations only.
Getting that line wrong is one of the more common compliance gaps we are asked to fix after the fact. We assess which track an assignment sits on before anything is filed.
How long does an Indonesian work permit take?
From a complete dossier, RPTKA approval typically takes one to four weeks, with the e-Visa and KITAS following once the levy is paid and the candidate has travelled and completed biometrics. End to end, plan for six to ten weeks.
Expect document collection, legalisation and translation to take longer than the official processing windows. When you engage us we share current expectations for your filing type and flag any unusual queue behaviour we are seeing.
Can a work permit holder bring a spouse and children?
Yes. Spouse and children can apply for dependant KITAS linked to the primary holder's permit. A dependant KITAS carries no work rights; a spouse who intends to work needs an RPTKA-based permit sponsored by their own employer.
We run the dependant filings in parallel so the family relocates on one timeline. One rule to plan around: the passport must have enough remaining validity to cover the KITAS term applied for.
What ongoing compliance applies after approval?
The DKPTKA levy and RPTKA must be kept current for the same period as the KITAS, so renewals are planned months ahead. Foreign employees working in Indonesia for six months or more must be enrolled in BPJS. Once the employee passes 183 days they are tax resident and PPh 21 applies in place of PPh 26.
Employers report annually on foreign worker utilisation and counterpart training, must report early terminations and arrange repatriation, and departures require KITAS cancellation and an exit permit. We track these cycles for every filing we manage.
How is your service priced?
Per application, quoted in writing before anything is submitted, with government fees and the DKPTKA levy passed through at official rates. There is no retainer and no minimum.
Employers who want permits handled alongside payroll and the wider HR function under one retainer can look at HR Shared Services.
